Computers and Technology
THIS AREA UNDER CONSTRUCTION!
I've always been fascinated by all aspects of technology, and
computers in particular. It is no surprise that I've made a career of
it. I have worked full-time in the tech sector for nearly 20 years, and
currently make a living as a freelance software developer.
I also build all of the computers I use in my own software
consulting business, as well as building/upgrading computers for members
of my extended family.
This area of JustBrewIt.net will contain product reviews, as well as
tips, tricks, and rants on various aspects of computer hardware,
software, and technology in general. Until then, here are some of my
favorite sites:
- The Tech Report - Great
computing news and info site, with an active message forum.
- Ars Technica - Another
great computing news and info site.
- Ace's Hardware - Not to
be confused with Ace Hardware... a computing news site with a very
technical slant. The General
Forum is an interesting place to just "hang out" if you want to get
a general feel for what's going on in the PC industry from a technology
perspective.
- The Inquirer - Excellent
computing industry news and rumors site, with a characteristically
British (sarcastic) sense of humor.
- AMDZone - News and reviews
about AMD processors and the systems that use them. If you've got a
question about an AMD-based system, there are also quite a few helpful
people on the AMDZone forums.
- Slashdot - It's a tech news
site... no, it's a message board... no, it's Slashdot! Microsoft Windows
users beware, Slashdot has a fanatical pro-Linux (and anti-Microsoft)
bias.
